♡ How to: Travelling - short trip ♡

Hello everyone!

I'm off to Bangkok tomorrow (eeek!) and as usual, I'm stuck with the question of what not to and what to bring. From my travels, I have learnt some lessons which has made this process a lot easier. So today, I've decided to share with you my tips on how to pack (or how I do at least)!

First thing you need to assess is the climate of the place you're travelling too. This will determine what kind of clothing you'll pack, as well as what kind of makeup and skin care items you're going to need. For example...

A cool climate requires:
-Thicker clothing (unfortunately, this means heavier clothing articles, and therefore you're going to need to be careful with your decisions)
- Closed in shoes
- Jackets
- Thicker moisturisers

A warmer climate requires:
- Loose fitting clothes
- Sandals and flip flops
- Possibly a bikini
- Lighter makeup
- Waterproof makeup

Time is definitely another very important factor. If you're going on a shorter trip, less of one kind of clothing is needed (such as outerwear, bottoms, shoes etc.) Whereas longer trips require variety.

Complementary outfits are great, especially for shorter trips. What I mean by this is packing outfits that incorporate pieces from another outfit. As you can see above, a jumper and short combo can use the exact same pair of shorts with a crop top and jacket. This means you can narrow down to less pieces of clothing.

Once you've chosen your items of clothing, go over them again. This time, look for similar items (look below if you're having trouble deciding), items that only go with one top, or possibly if you don't have enough shirts, decide how many more you need.

I had this problem just a while ago. I'm a fan of the exact same style of blouse: a button up, sheer white collared, sleeveless one. I have several of these...and its terrible.
I had to decide between my favourite two, one that's mullet styled with a jewelled collar, and a waist length and a little less plain compared to my other one. I chose the plainer one as it went with more things - more specifically, a skirt that can transform my outfit into one for night.

Finally the hardest decision for me to make - what makeup and skin are to take. My toiletries always push my luggage weight over the limit, and I'm always stuck scratching my head over whether or not to take that extra perfume or that hair mask.
So I have a very simple guide above. Simply ask for each item, "Can I buy this easily when I arrive?"
A foundation you know you won't find easily or you don't really need to spend the money on is an item that lands itself a position in your makeup bag.
That shampoo you ever so love doesn't need to come with you - especially if your trip is only a few days. You can usually buy these things in convenience stores near or where you're going to stay.
If you're unsure, buy it in a travel size! The travel section of supermarkets are a good indicator of the things you can buy there as well.

This is only part one to these posts, so look out for part two, where I tell you my tips on how to pack light, taking shopping trips and your purchases into consideration and fit as many things into your case.

I hope you enjoyed this post! I won't be posting for another few days as I will be in Bangkok, so I'll see you when I get back!
Lots of Love,
